Incorporating Vintage Barkcloth in Wearables and Accessories
comments (0) December 28th, 2009 in galleryThere are so many ways to use vintage fabrics! One of my favorite fabrics is barkcloth from the 1930's - 1950's. The designs are wonderful and many of the colors are not common today (makes coordinating with other fabrics a challenge sometimes!) Since the barkcloth was primarily used for curtains, the fabrics are usually in pretty good shape. Sun exposure can weaken the fibers, in which case I usually do some "quilting" on the piece I applique to strengthen it.
