Be A Crochet Insider with this great Web Zine
comments (3) July 24th, 2008If you're looking for the scoop on what's happening in the world of crochet, look no further than Dora Ohrenstein's labor of love, Crochet Insider. Dora has been working on the website since 2006, and updates it a few times a year with book reviews (here's a great article on some newly released stitch dictionaries), inspiring gallery photos and interviews with famous crochet designers and artists (check out this one with Nicky Epstein and another with freeformer extraordinaire, Myra Wood.) Dora also includes reviews of new yarn, writing and sharing 1-skein patterns in the process, such as the gloves pictured above.
I think you'll love reading the interviews especially, whether you're a casual crocheter or a devoted designer's fan, it's nice to see what goes on in their worlds, what inspires them, and how they got to where they are today. It's also a great place to learn about new (or new to you) designers and their philosophies. Here's a link to all of the designer interviews on the site.
What I really enjoy about the site is that the interviews are honest and open—unlike a magazine, it's not trying to sell you anything, it's just one person's report on the crochet world. Be sure to head over and check it out! Here's the archive of older issues in case you want to read more while waiting for the next update.

I really want to make them to wear to my son's wedding in June, but the link to the pattern no longer exists.
Thanks for reading
