This is a knit T-shirt/dress I made for a friend as a Christmas present. The motifs are of star constellations, planets, ships and galaxy's. My friends symbol (Leo) is on one sleeve, and my own (virgo) is on the other.

Materials: White Organic cotton (5% lycra) White pearl cotton embroidery thread (for shibori) and plastic beads of various sized (for tying in)

Process: First I traced my pattern peices onto the fabric with water soluable marker and cut the peices out (I wouldn't reccomend this for a woven fabric) Then I designed/traced the star systems onto the fabric. I began the shibori: For stars I tied in plastic beads, and to connect them I used running stitches. Once everything was in place I pulled all the threads tight. Dyeing: I dipped most of the peices a total of 4 times in a bath of Indigo. Each time (after oxidation was complete) I removed certian stitches so the final peice would have a gradient. The final step was to assemble the rinsed and dried pieces with a serger.
