Grape motif tote bag
comments (1) April 18th, 2010 in galleryFor this grape motif tote bag i used MCcall's pattern 4402(out of print) that was in my pattern stash. I had several good size remnants of green fabrics and some smaller pieces of purple satin fabric. For the front of the tote, i use a light green color for the panel. Around the panel, i used a honeycomb stitch in a fushcia colored thread and a medium green thread in a starpoint stitch. On the inside of the panel a series of vine stitches. Then surrounding the corners of panel, large and medium fabric yo-yos with green sequins in the centers and linking the yo-yos with sequins. Then creating 2 small grape bunches with green and purple sequins. Then in the center of the panel, making a grape bunch with small fabric yo-yos using purple satin fabric and placing purple sequins in the center. Then using a scrap piece of green fabric and thick zig-zag stitching for the stem. For the top of the opening all around the tote, i handsewn large green sequins and placed small green sequins at the bottom of the straps. The straps have the strapoint stitch in medium green thread. The back of the tote also has a light green panel in the center. It also has the border of honeycomb stitching in fushcia thread and the strapoint stitching in medium green thread. But doesn't have the vine stitching like front. Instead has multi size fabric yo-yos with green sequins in the center. There are large and small sequins keeping the yo-yos in place.
