Hi

I would like to enter my blue jacket that I have just finished.  It is made from 100% cotton navy blue sweatshirt which I cut off the ribbing and cuffs. I then cut out the sleeves and opened them out flat  and then I took the body of the shirt and cut shoulders and underarms to make a front and back.
I have used an embroidery quilt pattern  that has 12 different quilt squares  that has fancy stitching to cover where the different materials join.  I used different colors of blue metallic embroidery thread to cover these joints.
I used 12 different blue printed material plus plain navy for these squares.  On the navy blue material I used navy thread for the designs as I didn't want anything to take away from the cut work butterfly's that I put on them.  I made 16 of these squares and 30 of the squares made from the different material. To give my cut work butterflies some depth I placed blue lame material behind them.
I roughly laid out my squares on the front and back with making a design in the navy on lower front and top of back (6 squares each).  I then made a strip of each row sewed it on the jacket starting at the bottom.  I sewed a metallic yarn down and across every seam.  After I had finished that I made sure all seams matched and if not trimmed to fit.  I then folded the front in half and cut up the center.  I also made the cuff's for the sleeves and put one cut work butterfly in center of each.  I sewed  it all together and did any adjusting that  needed to be done then I did all the finishing.
I used navy material to line each of the fronts plus I put one cut work butterfly in the corner at top so if  I wanted to turn the top back you would see a butterfly.  I also added side pockets and bound the whole jacket with bias binding.  The inside seams are also bound.
