Sweater Vest Before and After

Sweater Vest Before and After

This was fun! My first experiment with needle felting over a knit. The vest was a nice 100% wool and begging for a redo. I needle felted all around the edges where I wanted to cut away the excess. Once the knit was stabalized a bit I took the scissors to the neckline and sleeve holes to change the shape. I needle felted all of the new edges with bulky yarn that I had ( some mauve would have been nice too but using what I had).  The wool yarn I felted with is wrapped around the edges so there is some on the inside of the vest edge too. The more needling the more secure the stitches in the original knit. Also removed the ribbed band at the bottom to shorten it and took the side seams in a bit leaving the bottom of the seam open a couple of inches. That all got felted too.
