Embroider Your Own Label
comments (3) March 23rd, 2008Step 4: Preview the design placement
Use the “trial” key to check your placement. If you lower the needle with the handwheel as the hoop is moving around the border of the embroidery area, the machine stops, and then it resumes when you bring the needle up. Lower the needle into the ribbon at each corner, and observe how far the needle is from the ribbon’s top and bottom. Move the design up or down with the dial or key as necessary to center the text on the ribbon. Keep testing until you like the placement.

Test run your design. Use the "trial" key to see exactly where the embroidery area is located. |
Step 5: Embroider
When you've finished stitching, remove the hoop from the machine. If you plan to stitch more labels, don’t unhoop the stabilizer; pull the ribbon off the stabilizer, and proceed to the next step.

After you've stitched the label, remove the ribbon, but don't unhoop the stabilizer. |
Step 6: Patch your stabilizer, and stitch again
To patch the hole you made by pulling the ribbon off the stabilizer, stick a section of stabilizer to the back of the original hooped piece. Position the ribbon along the line again, and embroider another label. Ribbon leaves very little residue on the sticky stabilizer, so you can patch and reuse your original hooped stabilizer several times.

Reuse your original hooped stabilizer to make lots of labels. |
Tips:
- For standard-size labels, text length should be 2 inches or less. You may need to abbreviate or use initials.
- Font style will affect the length of the text. Experiment with fonts to find a size that works.
- Text height should be at least 6mm smaller than the ribbon width.
- Some letters are hard to read in certain fonts. Try lowercase versions, or change fonts.
