Sculpted Magazine Tree
comments (1) February 10th, 2010 in galleryThis bulletin board project was inspired by an article seen in a Craftstylish e-letter entitled Wall to Wall Paper.
Much hard work went into creating this tree. It was created for our Toys for Tots display. Not wanting to take it down, we recycled it to become the main focus in our main hall foyer to highlight the theme for our Fine Arts Day which is “Western Expansion.”
The perimeter of the board was trimmed with rope, occasionally knots were tied.
The display in the main lobby of our elementary school measures 8 feet by 10 feet.
After sketching in the outline of the scene, chalk pastels and tissues for blending were used to add color. Fixative was sprayed to set the colors.
Our “Thank you for not touching the artwork” sign really was not a deterrent for young students. (too much temptation!)
