Repurposed placemat bag

Repurposed placemat bag

ECO-CHIC: I found these two placemats at the thrift store for $1.00 and fell in love with the design. The handles are repurposed from another thrift store find and the ribbons are actually vintage seam bindings dontated to my sewing room from a friend's mother's estate. It is my own design.

This is a great idea to make use of thrift store or rummage sale items. It was easy, quick to do and will be a great and showy shopping bag. I didn't have to line the bag because the place mats were two sided and finished nicely. Next time I may think about adding a cell phone pocket before I stitch it together.

SkyBlueBunny writes: YAY! You told what category you entered! PLEASE let me know if it holds up to groceries because the Kroger re-usable bags I was going to buy are made in China. (I don't like the idea of by grocery tote being shipped over here on a gas-spewing barge!!!)
