My yellow flower version was done with a very thin mulburry/rice paper type scrapbook paper in white and off white.  I painted watercolors over the papers with Koi watercolors in yellow ochre and lemon yellow and let dry.  I stippled the brush over the paper to create darker splotches of color and variation in hue and depth.  The vase is a recycled orangina bottle.
