Here you can see how the sleeves leave nice pointy bits at the bottom.

Cutting it with the sleeves still attached makes it twirl better.  I used four shirts instead of two on my version of the T-shirt skirt, but only used half of each one.  I actually came up with this before seeing this similar pattern here.
