Quilted Laptop Sleeve
comments (0) May 21st, 2010 in galleryI work from home and sometimes "home" means coffee shops. In other words, my laptop logs a lot of miles. After dropping my old computer on the ground one too many times, I finally sewed myself a laptop sleeve/carrier.
Basically what you see here are two mini quilts sewn together on the sides. I wanted it to be quilted for extra protection. I made the quilts larger than necessary at first and then cut them down to size (tracing around my laptop) so the sleeve would provide a snug fit.
I added handles so I could carry the sleeve, not just jam the thing into my purse.
The most important element is the embroidered phone number on the front. My life is on my computer and if I ever were to lose it, I'm not sure what I would do. I believe the vast majority of people are honest and helpful and would call if they found my computer.
Next time, though, I think I'll embroider it INSIDE the sleeve since the characters in coffee shops aren't always folks you want calling you at home.
