Ransom Letter
July 31st, 2008 in galleryTitle: Ransom Letter
Category: Eco-Chic
Process: You know those shirts you get when you participate in a walk-a-thon? They are basically only good for sleeping in or wearing to the gym. Well, not anymore. I used mine to cut out all the letters for my ransom note. The tote itself was sewn from an old sweater. The straps are the sleeves from the sweater and the tote part is from the torso. I first glued the letters onto the bag to hold them in place temporarily. I then went around each letter and sewed it into place. Glue and thread are the only non-salvaged items used in the process.
Theory: The earth as it once was has been kidnapped. The kidnapper wrote this ransom note to all the earthlings as a warning that if we ever want to see it in good condition again, we better change our ways and start treating the earth with kindness. It reads, "If you want your earth back, deliver compassion and mindfulness to all living beings"
