Whether you're sewing a tie or making a custom tool belt, share what you're making Dad for his special day.

If you're not making anything, what are some other gift ideas you can share with other crafters? Remote control holder for his favorite recliner? A personalized coozie for his favorite beverage? An apron for summer BBQs?

I used a beautiful green cotton pattern of pine trees (a camoflage effect--couldn't find fabric that looked like military camoflage). I put batten between the cotton for firmness. I gave it to him earlier, and he loves it. So, I'm making him a second one since I had just enough fabric left. They will get bleached out from the sun quickly, and dirty, so two will be great!

I had made some nice black & white striped pillowcases with a two part header and my husband really liked them but they were for the Bernina pillowcase sewing challenge. I found some beautiful coordinated black, grey, white and gold fabrics with an oriental look to make a special pair for him. He says they are too pretty to use, but I will put them on the pillows!

After seeing a tote bag I was making, he requested one using a space theme. He spend almost all of his working life in the aerospace industry, so this is a great theme for him. I found many great fabrics with a space theme to make his desire come true. I am making a few modifications to the original tote bag. I am adding a fairly stiff interfacing and additional pockets for accessories. I know he will be using it with pride.

fanciflower writes: A BBQ apron sounds like a wonderful idea. I made him a Flannel bathrobe for his birthday, (very hard to find men's bathrobes in May) and he LOVED it, so I think if I can gooch up one of the many free apron patterns online and personalize it-maybe put the kids photos or our pets pictures on an applique and sew it on with a cute saying, ....ooh, mind is swimming with ideas now -gotta go sew!
