My 1008 had a bent hook and a strange power issue, the cost of repairs almost exceeded the cost of a new machine. =(

Luckily, I have an awesome family and some mature savings bonds from Grandma!

The new baby is an Activa 220, and she's glorious.

I needed a new puncushion desperately, my store bought tomato was leaking sawdust all over. So I made a thread catcher, caddy and pincushion with these tutorials:

pincushion: http://blog.creativekismet.com/2007/11/16/patchwork-pincushion-tutorial/

caddy and thread catcher: http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=765

as you can see, i modified the 2nd pattern slightly. I made the patchwork pincushion with velcro on the bottom so I could remove it and take it to another workspace if needed.

Since I wasn't happy with the sawdust filled tomato, I used a fine steel wool in this one. The bottom is also weighted to keep the caddy on the table. For some additional stability, I used some non-slip shelf liner to keep it in place. I'm very happy with the way it turned out.
