Summer Wedding Dress
comments (5) June 23rd, 2010 in galleryThis dress was created with my sister in mind. She was 6 months pregnant at her wedding and needed a comfortable full fitting dress that made her feel beautiful.
This three tier dress was created with function of adjustability while remaining sized exactly for the bride.
Each tier is higher in the front than in the back creating a lovely train. This also was done so that with a belly pulling the front hem up it would not look silly but intentional no matter how big or small it would be at the wedding. The lowest tier is the only one that drags on the ground as a train and was created as an underskirt that can easily be removed to pick them hem up off the floor. It also matches the same color as the bridesmaid dresses.
The straps are created so that they form a lovely v-back and cross over in the front. They then wrap around through lacing loops in the back and eventually tie under the deep V-back. A panel was placed in the front for conservative persual.
To make a comfortable, fun to wear dress I used a stretch knit for the white and blue. The sheer middle tier was made with a white stretch skirt at the waist and sheer fabric just around the bottom edge where it showed.
All the hems were done with a pulled method to give a lovely rolled lettuce edge look adding to the feminitiy of the dress.

It is also a great idea with back the lacing for changes in your figure. No multiple fittings, and it can be worn more than once!
