Pre-embroidered Summer Dress
comments (3) July 2nd, 2010 in gallery
I am dress lover. If you stop by my website you can tell. Anyway for this summer I like white and laces so I used this pre-embroidered black and white light weight 100% cotton for the dress and I wanted it - attractive, comfortable and especially cool down the summer's heat. I don't use pattern ever and my goal is DIY and be creative. Here it is , I'm glad and want to share and to show my work.
The burst was made by 2 layers. For ruffle, 1/2-inch elastic at the top seam and white lace stitched then folded into the wrong side. Similar with the back,2 elastic lines for ruffle and body fit. The bottom part was one piece, stitch line at the center back. I added 2 appliqued side pockets. You can see them only when I put my hands in. Another thing I wanted to play with which were the straps as you can see in the photos. I used the tiny white hooks hand-stitched on the straps and made some small thread bars under the ruffle in the back. The dress has white stretching cotton lining. I tried to match the flower pattern also. It turned out good and balance.
This dress can be worn anywhere: shopping, cocktails parties, BBQ events, beaches... still appropriate and suitable. Visit my website you can see more of my projects and let me know your opinions please.
