Summer Dress for the Garden
comments (2) July 21st, 2010 in galleryThis contest was a fun opportunity to create something floral and summer-inspired, and I had the perfect model in our friend Brittany Jones. The pattern, McCall's M6011, features a sleeveless bodice with box pleats and gathers just above the waist, and a simple A-line skirt that ends just above the knee. The entire dress is lined in lavender shot cotton.
Brittany's old-fashioned bike basket and the hydrangeas from our garden were also part of the overall inspiration for the dress. While I wanted to keep the design simple, I combined patterns for more visual interest and to emphasize the garden theme. The dress fits Brittany's sunny spirit, too, and we had a lot of fun at the photo shoot. Special thanks to Brittany and to her mom, Susan, for photos.
