"One Hour" Dress
comments (1) July 21st, 2010 in galleryThis "one hour dress" (that took me 4) was made out of slinky "luxe jersey" fabric, which has a lovely drape. It was my first successful dress in two years, following 4 1/2 failures, so I'm really happy it turned out well. The drape of the fabric means that the front gathers don't make the wearer look pregnant (a problem I've had with other dresses). It was lovely to work with, and my only complaint is that there is absolutely no breathability to this fabric, so wearing it on a hot day is no good. I finished every edge using a twin needle, which worked great and added a professional look to the piece - no one asked me if I made it, so that's good. It was a bit hard to match up the front yoke, but a few stitches of hand sewing took care of any discrepancy.
