This denim dress was too heavy to be comfortable. (thrift shop find)
Reusing the skirt part of a full dress that had a stain on the bodice, I ended up with this summer dress.

Like so many others out there, I am a thrift shop enthusiast.  I like to get a good deal and I like to be creative.  When I thift shop, I look not only at clothing, but at each component that makes up that piece:  buttons, bodice, skirt, yardage, etc.  I can usually find a great dress - using several other dresses to make it.  Here, I was given this thrift shop find of a denim dress.  A winter dress, I guess, because it was long sleeved, and heavy.  I felt this fress needed a new life, so I made it into a summer dress using a skirt cut off an older dress that was lurking in the back of the closet.  I changed the sleeves into a summery gentle poof style.  I made the buttons lighter.  I took off the collar and used pink stitching around the new mandrin collar.
