Seamstress extraordinaire Amy Karol has posted great, easy-to-follow instructions on how to make a skirt in five minutes*! She uses a quick and clever fold-over elastic technique for the waistband -- check out her video tutorial here. Love the skirt she made!

Amy's book, Bend-The-Rules Sewing, is fantastic -- if you're a beginning sewer who's looking for charming, fun projects, be sure to scoop it up. Don't miss her fascinating craft blog, Angry Chicken, either...

*Amy's disclaimer: The 5 minutes only apply if you have a serger, all the supplies at the ready, and are sober. Please allow for extra time if your personal situation deviates from this.

Girlyboy writes: I love it! I need to try it too. I strayed a simple skirt for my grandaughter and it's become a year and five minute skirt because of the elastic installation. I think she won't even fit in it if I do finish it. I don't have the elastic thing down at all so I know this tip will help. A big thank you.
