My little baby quilt and burp cloth won sencond prize in a local contest. It was a contest for charity to donate to the local battered womens shelter. The quilt is called "Honey Bear House". It has embroidery panels in each corner with bumble bees and crazy patch. It has a crazy patch border around the little stone house in the center. I used stitch in the ditch and free hand stipple quilting. The bear blocks are from a pattern in in the book "Block Magic" by Nancy Johnson-srebro. I tried to make each bear have its own expression and hand painted the eyelashes and highlights in the eyes. The burp cloth is shown in the upper right hand corner. It has a very happy busy bee embroidery. I used my Husqvarna Designer SE machine for the embroidery and quilted it on my old Bernina 1130. The color scheme was decided by a very small scrap of cloth in my stash that had a heart and the word hope. It was strawberry, chocolate and summer green in color. I think it was a good color combination. You can see the heart between the two chimneys and the word hope under the center lower window in the crazy patch border. Sometimes the women who go to the battered shelter with their little children have nothing left but hope. I "hope" it will brighten up someones life as they use it for comfort and warmpth.
