For my hair sticks, I usually use squared sticks, then carve/cut, to make the shapes & look that I want. But, for this project, I took a simpler approach with dowel rods.
- Cut them to size, 6 inches.
- Sand the sticks to a smooth finish and use rough sand paper to make a nice point.
- Then smooth it with fine grain sand paper again.

Here is a close up of the image stamped onto the sticks.
- The tip to remember is to lay the stamp with the ink side up. Then roll the stick across the stamp to achieve the image transfer correctly. In other words, don't apply the stamp to the stick, instead you roll the stick onto the inked stamp.
- Apply some color using watercolors. (this can be done before or after the image has been stamped onto the sticks.

Seal the wood with your choice of glaze. For these, I used natural beeswax.
