The jaw-dropping Beijing Olympic opening ceremonies catapulted DIY artistic spectacle into a new era of human acheivement. While the world watched over 15,000 performers showed just what becomes possible when the imagination meets up with extraordinary committment and inspired can-do spirit. For many of us at home, the opportunity to sit and watch five-hours of show-stopping creativity, proved to be the perfect time to get in some crafting ourselves (although, we bet that many stitches were dropped by the ceremony's end).

It is high spectating season and this week CraftStylish is bursting with more excellent projects to titillate your creative fancy, inspire you to try something new, and keep your fingers nimble as you watch the world going for the gold.

  • Jeffery Rudell scores a perfect ten with another gorgeous How-to: Perfect Paper Daisies. These beauties will light up your table and last well beyond olympic events.
  • You can whip up a quick and cool Token Necklace in the time it takes to run the 5,000 meter with this super-easy tutorial from Jennifer Worick. This project makes great use of all of those little trinkets an baubles that you have been hanging onto.
  • On Tuesday,Daphne Adair primes us on The Anatomy of a Handknit Sock. Step foot-first into the socking making rage with her expert and tootsie-toasty know-how.
  • Do you have olympic aspirations? Kayte Terry's Make an Inspiration Board will get you face to face with all that moves you towards making your dreams a reality.
  • Tina Hilton offers a great Olympic watching project with her Pretty Rose Pin how-to. You can easily make up a bouquet of these to reward yourself when the atheletes step up to the medal podium.
  • Connect with crafters worldwide: Diane Gilleland's Crafting Long Distance post shares the interesting stories and ideas of DIY enthusiasts who don't let a lot of mileage come between them.
  • Snaz up a pair of yoga pants with Jennifer Stern 's How To Embroider a Hem how-to. This quick restyle project will make you fall in love with some old favorites all over again.
  • Plus, more crafting inspiration from CraftStylish dream teamers Linda Permann, Susan Beal, Mary Ray and Shannon Dennis .
