[Jacket Challenge] Striped Blue Short Blazer
comments (1) October 18th, 2010 in galleryMaterials: 100% blue polyester; lined with dark blue nylon
Pattern: I created a pattern based on a jacket I already owned, and altered it until it was the style I wanted. Since most of my jackets are longer, I decided to make this one short in the front and long in the back, for a more unique look, and the sleeves are tapered to match.
Construction: The jacket was originally one shade of blue, but after I finished sewing it, it seemed too drab, so I used soft fabric paint to add lighter blue stripes and smudged them for a more interesting pattern.
Pattern or design used: My own design

The fabric paint is a great touch, and I love the dovetail in the back. You're right, it does give the jacket a dressy, unique look.
