Blackstonecat writes: Empty vitamin bottles, and prescription pill bottles also work well if you fill them with sand or plaster.

Cans of tuna work well because they are low and don't tip over and roll off the table. Of course you have to rotate your canned food stock, and use them up but I always have tuna on hand in my basement pantry, so when I run out of other weights I reach for a few cans.
