Threads has just published two must-have products for anyone who either loves to sew or wants to learn to sew. Even those who have been sewing most of their lives find new nuggets of sewing information in the magazine, Teach Yourself to Sew. The Teach Yourself to Sew DVD is also perfect for a beginner, but even experienced sewers find tips and tricks to refresh their skills. Threads Senior Technical Editor, Judith Neukam covers everything from threading a machine to sewing a jacket with a pattern in this 2-1/2-hour video series. Visit TeachYourselftoSew.com to learn more and see some of the videos included on the DVD.

This set would make a perfect holiday gift for any sewer in your life, or maybe this is exactly what you would like to add to your wishlist.

We are giving away the Teach Yourself to Sew magazine and DVD combo pack to two lucky winners.

Simply leave a comment on this post before the deadline—11:59 pm, Tuesday, November 23rd—and you could be one of the TWO randonly-selected winners. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 24th.

Good luck!

I actually think that this would be more valuable to experienced sewers than one might think. ANYONE who already sews can find better ways to do things.

Way to go, Taunton, CraftStylish, and Threads! I have been lusting after this DVD; I sew well enough for basic projects, but think there would be something to help me move more quickly, efficiently, and elegantly to the next level of sewing.

daughter writes: Gave my daughter a new sewing machine for her wedding present.
She has one son, 4 years old, and second child due in December 2010,
I LIVE ON THE WEST COAST, SHE LIVES ON THE EAST COAST.
Many phone calls and emails, problems solving and "how do I do..." as she sews for her family.
This CD would e a perfect instruction tool, from "Nana" to her daughter and grandchildren.
PS I am a retired high school teacher, and have been sewing since my teens and have taught overall sewing, dress making, tailoring, pattern drafting and adjustments, house decor, machine embroidery, how to use your sewing machine , yada yada for many years.
All this to say I miss being closer to my daughter to be able to pass on my skills and experiences in person.
Phone calls and emails are working OK and I hope your CD will add to our shared sewing instruction time(s).

Mommyto_4 writes: I love doing crafts and always wanted to sew. My mom never sewed anything but buttons, it was even kind of a joke :) My husband has 3 kids from a previous marriage 2 that are girls. When we got married 4 years ago I decided I wanted to be able to sew them things. I tried a couple things here and there but nothing major. Now we have 4 more kids and 2 are twin girls. I taught myself enough to sew them a couple dresses, tutus and easy things. With twins you want to dress them alike but it can get expensive. We have 7 kids on a military budget so sewing is not only about the passion that have for the creativty side of it all but also economical. I would love to be able to win this magazine and DVD. I am so anxious to learn more and continue growing in this area. I look forward to learning different techniques and tricks for sewing for my kids. Crossing my fingers :)

KateInMotion writes: I never believed I could do any kind of crafts, thought I wasn't creative. Over the years, people tried to teach me to knit, crochet, macrame but I just had 2 left hands. As a child, my aunt tried to teach me to sew and said she was glad she'd never have to teach me to drive. Now my kids are grown and I have a little more time. About 4 months ago, I started with a couple of fleece no-sew blankets, I learned how to do them from a YouTube video. I was so surprised they came out quite lovely. And recently, I did a couple of halloween no-sew blankets for my local community to raffle off on halloween. I started feeling good about my newly found abilities, I even went to a quilting store while on my vacation. So, I recently got an inexpensive sewing machine, nothing too much, but I made a couple of scarfs. I'm liking the direction my newly found creative abilities are taking me. I'd love some help teaching myself to sew. Thanks for reading my post.
