Reused, refashioned........
comments (0) December 20th, 2010Recently, I received several pieces of used clothing, which were fashionable when I was a little girl (in the 90's). One item I found in the midst of this stuff was a black and white striped, one-button blazer. It certainly needed some work because I knew I wouldn't wear it without it being refashioned.
One night, I pictured different ways of refashioning the blazer, without taking too much from it. Then I came up with an idea....A VEST!....and went to work. I trimmed off the sleeves and the bottom of the jacket (right underneath the front pockets because I'm short waisted).
I used the cut-off bottom of the jacket as a ruffle for the collar and the sleeves as ruffles for the front. I used extra material from a skirt project and added a ruffle to the back of the vest. I used a pin as a closure piece for the vest because I wanted to add some flare to my fashion piece.
