classical contemporary
comments (1) June 14th, 2011 in galleryI designed and hand made this dress combining the classic elements of the rose accents and gathered scalloped edge along the hem with the modern flair of the asymmetrical fan at the top and mermaid style cut. The majority of the dress is made of deep red silk dupioni, while the lower section has flowers of iridescent black fabric and black tulle sewn individually on the whole black satin underskirt. Hand made covered buttons run down the back, while an invisible zipper is hidden on the side of the dress. The fan at the top is stiffened with interfacing and boning, and is embellished with two sizes of black beads sewn across from the top corner to the waist. Small black roses are sewn on the hip following the line of the beads. The dress is fully lined and has petticoat net sewn between the underskirt and lining to make the bottom flare out.
