The Infinity Symbol
comments (0) August 12th, 2011Infinity has long been used in mathematics to explain something that has no end. No one knows exactly when the idea or symbol was created, however, it's been found during the 19th century in Greece. The symbol itself is also known as lemniscate which is Latin for ribbon. The infinity symbol was not just used in mathematics but also as a depiction of the cosmos. The idea being that there were infinite number of stars and moons in the night sky. More currently, the figure 8 has been known to symbolize eternal love. The combination of past and future joining together. Featured on many items, i.e. homemade earrings, wedding accessories, scarves and even detailed on summer sandals, this symbol has become wide spread as a symbol of love.
