He'd probably redesign the International Space Station in 10 minutes and make it glorious, if he felt like it. A superlative talent.

Juliane writes: It was the colours of Kaffe's knits in the 60s that captivated me and inspired me to knit bold colours and be adventurous in design. Then I found a love for glorious ceramics and mosaics, gleened from his early books. Patchworking came much later to me in life, but Kaffe has always been on my boolshelf. I believe I have almost all of his books, have seen him lecture and been to 2 workshops. He has so much knowledge and talent to share. I am a very fond admirer of his great body of work. Perhaps other Threads lovers should check out all his creativity. He has an artistic history which deserves much greater attention. He is a master crafstman. I adore him and his work and hope to get a copy of his newest book to add to my highly regarded collection.

Carolebarrel writes: Ever since childhood when my pretty blond friend's parents hailed from Sweden have I loved Scandinavian design--the clean contrasts of great color combinations; sometimes the simple two color symmetric combos are the most restful. I remember lots of red and white and a kitchen with a blue and white scheme. And Swedish enamel jewelry, often very modern using sterling silver are unusually comfortable, especially the way the earrings fit without pinching yet stay securely put.

Kaffe Fassett's colorful quilts, embroideries, fabulous photography with children and their families, his way with successfully combining patterns in all media using flowers and other forms from nature are a wonder. I would be thrilled to win another of his books to add to my collection and will no doubt find as much inspiration from this as I do all his others. He will go down in history as one of the greatest talents the art world has ever known in my opinion. CR in SC

therapist writes: I love all of Kaffe Fassett's work. To quilt is to link the present with the past. It is creative and therapeutic. I have fond memories of my grandmother's quilting bees when she would set up the wooden quilting frame in the dining room and invite all of her sisters over to help her quilt the new quilt. At the age of four I would crawl under the quilt imagining it to be a colorful little house they were building just for me. My grandmother helped me make my first quilt a few years later on a Singer treadle sewing machine. Although the sewing lines weren't straight and the seams didn't match, it got plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" from the quilting bee crowd as I proudly displayed it. Opening the emails from your site is like stepping back into that safe world of beautiful fabrics and loving conversations around the quilt frame. Thanks for keeping these great memories alive.
