Kimono Jacket from Nori Seaweed - help
comments (0) May 25th, 2011I have a question perhaps many of the experienced crafters out there can help me explore. I am making an edible jacket (yah!) for a local exhibit this fall, and before I commit myself to something I can't do, I thought I'd put it out there for any creative ideas, because I am having a hard time making it work. The project is a kimono jacket- short, made from NORI SEAWEED. Yes, Nori seaweed. It was something I saw over 30 years ago in a local exhibition - Edible Art, that I also participated in. And of course 30 years later...I don't know how to work with the dry Nori. I've tried joining edges, but they buckle with the edition of anything wet. I don't know how to join these pattern edges without them crumbling...I am going to try joining with double sided hemming tape. But before I bags of nori on my floor, I was wondering if anyone has tried experimenting sewing with such an item. Many thanks.
