My Favorite Los Angeles Bead Store
comments (0) April 2nd, 2008Berger Beads is without a doubt my favorite place to shop for beads and jewelry supplies in Los Angeles—it’s the oldest and largest bead shop in the city, celebrating its 75th anniversary last year. In addition to a lovely mix of new pieces like Swarovski crystals, flat-backed rhinestones, and chain, the shop has a huge, unparalleled and ever-changing selection of vintage beads, findings, and charms for sale. Vintage pieces are stored in cardboard boxes lining the shelves on each wall—just look around and ask to see any that you like. The prices are very reasonable, from single charms to beads by the gross, and the service is fantastic.
And now the shop has a brand-new Web site for mail order, so if you don’t live in the city, you can still browse for amazing stuff! The Web site does have a more limited selection than the 6,000-square-foot brick-and-mortar store, so if you don’t see what you are looking for online, just call during regular business hours with questions or special requests.
My favorite finds there: vintage bead cards; rhinestones of all colors, shapes, and sizes; and unusual chain galore.
