Indigo Blue Flower Power
September 13th, 2008 in sewing, fashion, gifts, jewelry making, galleryThis is one of many flowers I've made. I use them for ponytail holders, brooches, hair clips and to embellish things like purses. I made it with layers of frayed fabric, silk flower petals and vintage buttons. I backed this one with felt and attached a ponytail holder. I often wear my hair in a ponytail in the summer and started using these flowers to dress up my ponytail and make it less boring.
I started making things like this when an illness made holding a normal job impossible. I needed something to fill my time and take my mind off of my chronic pain. My disability has taken so much from my life. My artwork allows me to accomplish great things within my limitations and gives me something to be proud of. Creating has been great therapy!
