I made this tree topper for my older brother as an ongoing tradition (and inside joke) between him and me. For the most part this guy is made of pre-existing parts. The body is an actual premade Santa tree topper with beard, hat, and bag of gifts removed. The Hippo parts are from a dismantled baby plush toy that I "painted" purple with spray fabric paint.

As for the wings and the halo both were handmade. The halo is a simple twist of craft wire and Swarovski crystals. The wings probably took the most time. Made with wire hangers cut and bent into basic wing shape. Then I covered the wire wings with pantyhose which provided an attachment point for the feathers. The long lower feathers were individually hand sewn into place, piercing the quills. Then upper feathers were premade store bought "patches" glued and sewn into place and finishing with stripped feather down on the wing edges.
