Congratulations to the winner of our "Socks for Stephen" giveaway! The response was so great that we have another wonderful oppotunity to win for you.

One of our talented authors, Joan Ford, creator of the ScrapTherapy® program and author of Cut the Scraps! and the upcoming Scraps Plus One! (which will be out in April 2013) has created a "Great Summer Orphan Block" challenge.  You can enter the contest and get all the details on her blog

Whether you are an expert quilter or a beginner sewer, this is the perfect challenge to get through the hot summer days. Creating small blocks is a quick creative outlet. It's a nice way to take your mind off the heat, and it's small enough that you can squeeze it in between all your other fun summer activities.

The contest ends Friday, September 21, 11:59 pm, EDT--the last full day of summer. Joan will be revealing prizes slowly as the contest continues, but I can tell you that Taunton Press is donating a few of our favorite cookbooks, a new quilting title, and some sewing and gardening magazines. Plus, Joan is getting a bunch of other goodies together. It's a big deal!

For those of you unfamiliar with Joan Ford, she is the founder of the ScrapTherapy program and the owner of Hummingbird Highway in Syracuse, New York. She teaches cutting workshops and quilting classes at guilds and quilt shops around North America. Her book Cut the Scraps! details her tried-and-true method for organizing your fabric and turning it into gorgeous quilts and accessories! To buy a copy, visit the Taunton store.

And if you want to share what you make, don't forget to post pictures in our gallery. We love to see your work.

Get organized with Joan Ford's Cut the Scraps! and enter to win
