Peasant blouse or chemise from large tshirt
comments (1) November 12th, 2012 in galleryI needed a quick chemise for a Halloween costume and made this peasant blouse/chemise in under an hour. The local craft store has tshirts in all sizes, colors and for a reasonable price.
I cut the neck starting about 1 inch from the sleeve seam and just under the neck binding.
Fold over 1 inch and stitch. The knit fabric stretches and any bobbles in the stitching is covered up when you gather. Or you could use 1 inch seam binding to create a gathering channel.
I added lace that just peeks above the new neck and on the sleeves.
Thread a ribbon through the channel, gather and wear.
For the sleeves I made small slits near the under arm seam and threaded 1/4" elastic through to gather the sleeves.
I will be wearing this next summer! Maybe I'll make another in another color.
