Stylish Handbag
comments (0) December 28th, 2012 in galleryThis past Christmas I made two bags for my husband's and my Godchildren. I wanted to make something fashionable for them, yet like to include something that is representative of their faith. This year I decided on fashionable handbags with the theme, "Take your Catholic faith with you wherever you go."
Each bag has a handmade rosary charm stitched to an interior pocket inside the bag. In addition (but not shown in the photos) is an embroidered Guardian Angel prayer which has also been stitched to the bag interior. Both can be removed when wear and tear takes its toll on the bag.
The bags were made with a fleece-backed vinyl and a mystery, plush-like, snakeskin-print fabric with a polyester print lining fabric. Pockets line both sides of the bag with one being a zipper pocket. The bag has a magnetic snap closure with fabric flap at the top interior of the bag. The straps are made from the black vinyl with soft hem tape topstitched on the underside of the straps.
The bag was my own design with inspiration on design and sewing details from catalogs and the Craftsy class, "Design Your Own Handbag" by Brett Bara.
