Made this Swiffer sock from a pattern I found here on Craft Stylish by Linda Permann

In step 1a, you write "Repeat from* 2 more times, ch 2 and join yarn to the 3rd ch of the round". My question is how exactly am I supposed to join the yarn to the 3rd chain of the round? I've had to teach myself how to crochet online, and I've apparently missed this joining part. I don't have anyone else to ask. Could someone please explain this step to me? Maybe in little beginner crochet person words?
