Re: How do you mark your fabric?
My mom taught me to use tailor tacks about 50 yrs ago and I often still use them, but I'll also use soluable pens on dart points after clipping the s.a. ends - water if something can be wetted or air if I'm sewing right away. I'll use chalk or tracing paper if I have to mark a long line. I guess knowing several techniques and when to use what is the key to successful marking leading to successful fit.

I enjoy working with felted wool - but I usually go to one of the thrift stores and buy wool sweaters, bring them home & felt them. I once made a cool vest from a man's XL sweater. I cut off the sleeves and neck ribbing, & shaped a v-neck. I then took a coordinating yarn and did a blanket stitch on all the raw edges. I've gotten many complements on it. I've also embroidered on a solid and made a little shoulder bag with a zippered closure. Although I'm an experienced knitter, I haven't yet been able to felt something I took so much time knitting.....maybe someday. If I win the book, I may get the courage to do so.
