I have always loved Christmas best. I think because my mom did; and she made it sew much fun for the nine of us (I am the youngest).
My mom was a seamstress so she taught us to sew, even the boys; she also taught most of us how to do hand embroidery, crochet and to knit. Material was very inexpensive then and my mom got a discount on it.
We made most all of our Christmas ornaments. I remember one year we made gold and white angel ornaments from Tulle and Organza, and the angel for the top of the tree was out of satin and fur.
I think that was the prettiest tree we ever had. We also made most other things for our home like quilts, curtains, and hand embroidered dish towels which we used for gifts for family and friends.
I am happy to say that I have carried on my mom’s tradition of making a lot of the Christmas decorations for my home and tree, and I quilt too.
