Little boy easy pull-on jeans
Since my seven year old son put his knees through five pairs of pants in one week, I decided to make him some new pants. Got a meter of lightweight denim at Fabricland for $9 and a darker...

Re: Book Giveaway: "Flirt Skirts"
Sounds great! Just what I need to be inspired for Christmas gifts!

I made this bracelet in less than 30 minutes and I am a basic level crocheter, I have basic beading skills and I have never worked with crocheted wire before. I'll be making more of these for Christmas gifts!

Re: Book Giveaway: Fearless Fair Isle Knitting
Would love this book. I've always wanted to try Fair Isle but thought it too difficult. My Mom many umpteen sweaters with it.

love it! Very creative. Reminds me of the Oscar winning costume designer from Australia who designed and wore a dress made of gold AmEx cards to the Oscars.

Best mistake - would have to be the mistake I made most often would be sewing too fast - put the pedal to the metal - and then ripping out. Or not changing the pattern before cutting to fit my short waisted, large bust and hip body. Or not following instructions and having floppy facings. Now I sew much slower and while I don't follow instructions slavishly, I do realize that they are printed for a reason! And yes I have learned how to shorten the back waist.

Re: What's your favorite fabric to sew?
the fabric I choose depends on 1) what garment I'm sewing and thus what kind of drape I'm looking for 2) who the recipient is 3) what's on sale at the fabric store and 4)what I have in my stash!

Re: Pink Puppies PJ set
Fantastic! Congratulations being first runner up!

My five year old son is going to Grade One ( or First Grade for you Americans) so I'm sewing him some pants with extra reinforced knee patches. This spring he put his knee through FIVE pairs of pants in one week!
posted: 7:34 pm on August 23rdAs long as the pants are are roughly the same colour, I won't have to change the serger threads :-)
Re: How to Make a Magazine Reed Box
Neat-o! I used to make beads from magazine pages using a similar technique but starting with a long isosceles triangle and rolling from the bottom of the triangle using a toothpick. In fact, I did this in the '70s when I was a small child. Just goes to show you that good craft ideas come around again and again.

As a Girl Guide Leader almost 100% of the crafts that we do are nature themed or nature inspired, even though we meet in a very urban setting. My fave nature craft with the Guides has been making bookmarker while we were on a bike hike along a city-bound waterway. While I do have a "leave nothing but footprints" policy, I knew that the "weeds" would be mowed down in a few days so I let the girls pick them, press them and turn them into bookmarks. The other leaders were impressed that we did a craft on a bike hike!
