I started crocheting as a teen but I didn't make many crocheted items. Once I had children I began to crochet afghans and also hats and mittens. Most of what I have made I have given as gifts. I have found that people don't want to pay what a hand-crocheted item is worth. I decide the pattern and colors when I make an afghan and then I give it as a gift with no complaining or scrutinizing. I feel better that way. I love to crochet.

I would love to learn to knit and embroider.

Re: Money-Saving Tip: Don’t Buy Duplicate Hooks

I like the idea of the index card because I am sure that when I am getting yarn for a particular project I might have to find the pattern I am using in a book at the craft store so that I am sure how much yarn I need. This leads to buying another hook. I also have a few G hooks. I have a complete set of hooks from e through K. Sometimes I misplace them.
