Re: Glamorous Evening Gown
I do so love the 1930's dress designs and you've done an outstanding job interpreting one here. Love it!

Totally original and very clever. In slippery dupioni, even. I really like how well the design works with the beautiful fabric. Very impressive.

I would have had a hard time picking a winner here. Lots of talent and imagination in these dresses. This one is quite nice and beautifully put together. I like the way you did the neckline. Well done.

Very special look with the two separate colors and textures. Nice that you have the figure for it, too! Well done.

Very cool look, and nicely balanced. Especially nice in the off-white color used. Well done. Thank you for sharing.

I am very curious about knitting Barbie clothes... I saw a book in my LYS for Barbie fashions, by a famous knitter (can't remember her name at the moment). Couldn't buy the book because it was the store copy and it is apparently out of print. My mother also knitted and sewed (and even smocked) many little Barbie outfits for me and my 3 sisters. I still have a box of them in the attic. I am going to follow the threads on this kind of knitting and see if I can knit for Barbie, too. I too loved the shaping on that pink number!

Wow, I am IMPRESSED! My mom taught myself, 2 sisters, and 1 sister in law, how to knit around a campfire many years ago during a summer of camping at the beach in California. My baby brother was taught how to crochet when he was sick for several months. I knitted a few sweaters and quit after a few years. My sister in law proved to be a knitting powerhouse for many years. Now in my later years, I have begun knitting again and have rekindled that satisfaction of making something for myself. Thank you for such a heart-warming photo and story. I'll await the knitted products of your great Christmas anxiously. Wonderful story. EXCELLENT picture!
