That's a really good idea! Here is another similar idea: You can buy pretty single sheets of paper and fold them over a canvas, layering so that you see different amount of each paper, and then use a staple gun to adhere to the back of the canvas. I have these hanging all over my house! It also looks cool to cover the seams of the paper with ribbons in different widths, colors, and textures.
