Re: Which sewing conferences or classes are you looking forward to attending this year?

I'll retire probably in the next couple of years and when I do, I plan to sign up for every day-time sewing class for the month following my retirement at my favorite store, Merrily We Quilt Along! Then I'll look at possibly going to a Palmer & Pletsch seminar. What fun!

Re: What sewing projects are you working on this week?

For iceni--a Textiles and Clothing professor once commented that she looks at all things on sale to see what the reasone is--out of fashion, poorly consturcted, hard to sew on! Have you tried a titanium needle, I hear those are very good for difficult fabric.

I am working on another Elizabethan gown for a young lady in a madrigal group. She is rather short, and with similar bust, waist and hip measurements. Have adjusted the pattern and made a muslin, now to test it. Last year, it took three tries to get that one to suit us.

Also making small zippered purses to carry in ones purse. What a fun way to use extra fabric. Even made a small one for my husband for his special earplugs he uses when riding the motorcycle.

Re: What are you making Dad for Father's Day?

This wasn't for Father's Day but close. I had made some nice black & white striped pillowcases with a two part header and my husband really liked them but they were for the Bernina pillowcase sewing challenge. I found some beautiful coordinated black, grey, white and gold fabrics with an oriental look to make a special pair for him. He says they are too pretty to use, but I will put them on the pillows!

Re: What machine are you sewing on now?

I sew on a Bernina 830--still in the bonding process. Had a Bernina Artista200 that I sold to a fashion design student. Have a Bernina serger, could hardly sew without it.

My first machine was a Singer Stylist that I paid $7/month on for about 3 years! Loved that machine. Wish I still had it for just straight sewing.

Re: What sewing tools can you not live without?

I can't sew without my wrist pin cushion. I make my own and make for other sewing friends. I have been known to just stick pins in my wrist! For hand sewing, my thimble.
