I've always 'made stuff' and years ago I used to make my own clothes. I've just re-discovered my sewing skills and I'm also studying for a degree in ceramics (part-time as a mature student). I'm particularly interested in re-purposing fabrics and like to trawl my local charity shops. I feel it's a win win situation because I get unusual fabrics and support local good causes at the same time. I'm really excited and nervous that I'll soon be launching my own product line ... I would be grateful of feedback ...

Alabama Inspired

Here's a copy of the pincushion and book cover I made from Natalie Chanin's Alabama Stitch Book. I love my new pin cushion, love it love it. It took ages to make as it's all hand sewn - but well...

This is amazing - must have taken ages - well done, it would get my vote to win for sure

Re: T-Shirt Quilt Gone Dotty

Great use of re-purposed T-shirts - I might have a go at making one of these myself! Thanks for sharing your pics.

Re: Sitting Pretty

Great fabrics and love the pom pom trim!

Re: Natalie Chanin Introduced Her New Line at Fashion Week

I totally lurve Natalie Chanin's book - she's one of the people who made me pick up some fabric and start making stuff again. The thing that inspires me the most is the way she re-uses cast off T-Shirts in such a creative way - it's high end upcycling. I also love that she has brought the cooton industry back to her home town. I've made her book cover and pin cushion so far and am about to embark on the graphic corset. I've posted pics of these on my blog http://niftythriftyloveliness.blogspot.com/
