Re: Happy Fat Tuesday: Eat Pancakes!

I really, really hope she was making the pancakes in go-go boots and that your kitchen color was something like avocado. A brilliant post, and although not Catholic, I am now thinking of converting.

And YES the single cable is on the 10-row repeat which gives it that long, languid look.

Mamamere! OMG you are right! It's really a 6 row repeat:

Row 5: slpks 1, knit remaining

Row 6: slpks 1, k2, slp4 to cable needle P4, P4 from cable needle, k3, slp4 to cable needle P4, P4 from cable needle, k3.

zlee- ah the bonds of knitters! I am thrilled to pass on the obsession. i blame my German aunts for getting me hooked, but they never approved of my American right-handed yarn toss. If it weren't for knitting I'm sure netflix would only be half as successful. I swear I'm keeping them in business everytime i say, "Just one more cable" and stick in another DVD.

You did it! It's fabulous. I;m not buying that 'rank beginner' biz. Look at that adorable hat! I love the fat cable framing the edge. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Re: Crafte's Inferno: Crafting for Christmas, a Lie in the Making

maybe you can crochet that cocktail dress for next new year's? it would be fabulous... and only you would find a way to get us all thinking about how we can craft for good. you may be unbalanced but you have the most generous heart. can people donate items to the Etsy store?

Re: How to Make a Cable-Knit Scarf in a Weekend

Here's a great trick for introducing a new skein no matter what size yarn you are using. Take the end tail of the old skein and new end of the new skein and fray them a little. Then lay them side by side going (pointing opposite directions) with 2-3 inches of overlap in the middle. Place the overlapping ends between your palms and rub them quickly together spinning the yarn. Remember making playdough snakes? That's the action. The two pieces will twist together and you will be able to knit your way off the end of the old and onto the new without any ends to contend with. Let me know if you need any help.

Yes! repeat 1-5 unless you choose to make the longer looser cables and are cabling every 10 rows. In that case repeat 1-10.

Re: Who Are You? DIY Halloween Costumes

Michaela! Quick, the 3rd grade wants to be a colony of meercats! Can you help? A terrific costume--you are a genius! I can't wait for it's big debut at the school costume parade tomorrow.
