I used to get crafty with it when I was a kid (my Grandma taught me loads of things) but its taken me over 20 years to get back to it, and Im hooked. Ive been out of work and living in rainy old England (Im originally from Australia) so learning how to crochet has been a great past time.

Ive been enjoying getting into crochet and a bit of knitting, learning how to read patterns, make up my own silly things. i dont think Im very good yet - but Im getting better all the time. I would like to learn more things, Im considering buying a sewing machine to make more things.

Im a lover of food and cooking, spending the day in the kitchen makes me happier than anything else really, and people say that Im pretty good at it.

I am passionate about good produce, slow food, slow living for two reasons - 1) because things are BETTER when theyre hand made, grown locally, they taste better and make you happier as well; and 2) my own personally rebellion again the consumerist world we live in - Im doing my bit, its kind of all we can do.

Google reader is great.. it's so useful, especially the "next" button you can add to your favorite bookmarks which basically takes you from new website entry to the next new website entry, checking it off as "read" once you've been to that page , instead of just looking at them in a list (that kind of looks like email) - this is the way not to miss a posting!

(and thanks for the list - some new ones for me too!)

Thanks for this. I've been thinking of buying a sewing machine as well... but it's been so long since I've done any sewing at all - I wish there was some way I could have access to one for a while BEFORE the purchase so I could see if I'm any good at it..

you can get some pretty cheap ones, so i guess thats where you start..
