Why, hello there.

For more on me, visit my blog at: http://www.StyleSchematic.com

Originally a Texan, I can usually be found wandering around Brooklyn or practicing my banjo while concocting things edible or crafty in my Flatbush apartment. After moving to the Big Apple, I had the lovely pleasure of working for several publications including Seventeen, Teen People, Cutting Edge, and Adorn. My work has also been featured in several publications including Adorn, Knit.1, BUST and many other books and magazines.

I guess you can say that I'm an omni-crafter, but I mostly dig sewing and pattern making. I currently design clothing, jewelry, accessories and sewing patterns, while working as an editor for STITCH magazine. Previously I was the lead editor for SewStylish and the Associate Editor for Threads . I also teach workshops, private lessons and classes at 3rdWard in Brooklyn.

Re: Embroider-It-Yourself Fendi Bag

Shabby - I was thinking the same thing. I was sitting here admitting that if one showed up, I would certainly not throw it out.

Re: Zipper Tape Necklace

Hi all,
I personally love the necklace and have worn it out before. I'm currently working on making a smaller-scale one for myself to wear more often. While at the photoshoot, the stylist actually tried to buy the necklace from me and while I was out in Brooklyn, I had numerous people ask where they could find one.
Moral of the story here is that everyone has their own personal style, and while the necklace may not be mainstream, some people love it. -Nicole

Re: Oscar Fashion 2010

I remember seeing Zoe Saldana's dress first in Givenchy's spring 2010 couture show a couple months ago. I thought it was absolutely stunning and actually saved the image on my computer for inspiration. The saturated color was amazing. However, on Zoe it fell flat. Just goes to show you that runway doesn't translate to reality well.

Re: How to sew an exposed zipper

Hi Shehog,

For Anna's garment, she put in the zipper before she faced the dress. After the zipper was sewn in, she sewed the facing to the top edge of the dress, folded the seam allowance under along the facing's zipper edge and hand stitched it in place.
